Personal Care Activities

From getting out of bed, to helping you with brushing your teeth, Hope House helps you get ready for the day. Our team understands that everyday personal care is essential to independent living at home. We provide personal care tailored to your needs, from full or part supervision and to full or part assistance with showering, dressing, toileting,  grooming  and meeting your personal care needs. This also includes managing your continence, assisting in using continence aids and appliances. Our assistance is to your discretion, as our goal is to ensure we provide you with complete respect for your privacy and dignity.

Meal Preparation

When it comes to the food you eat at home, our team can support you in preparing and enjoying your favourite meals and snacks the way you like them. Whether you have special dietary needs, need inspiration with your meal plans, or would simply love some help with everyday cooking, we can offer the level of support and advice you want. We can work alongside you and create and plan meals for the week ahead, accompany you to the supermarket, unpack your groceries, keep you company while you cook something new, or completely prepare your favourite meals on your behalf.

Household tasks and Home maintenance

Completing simple household tasks can be made difficult when you live with a disability. At Hope House we provide domestic assistant services to participants who are unable to clean their home, as it can be strenuous, we provide general house cleans and offer bi-annual spring cleaning services. 

Such services include: 

  • ● Dusting and wiping
  • ● Vacuuming and mopping 
  • ● Kitchen such as surfaces, sinks, and taps
  • ● Bathroom  such as tub, shower, and toilet scrubbing
  • ● Garbage disposal
  • ● Spring cleans that include: moving furniture to clear dust from couches or high area, window and blind cleaning and a more in-depth clean 
 

Or maybe you desire to be independent and want to learn to manage your own household tasks, our team also specialise in guiding and teaching how to maintain your home independently. 

Hope House can also assist in completing tasks around your home that require regular upkeep and check ups, this can include: 

  • ● Lawn mowing
  • ● Rehanging doors
  • ● Nailing floorboards
  • ● Repairs gates and fencing
  • ● Replacement of tap washers
  • ● Installation of quarter turn lever taps
  • ● Replacement of fly screens
  • ● Changing light globes
  • ● Repairs to cupboards etc.
  • ● Minor electrical and plumbing works (licensed tradesmen sub-contracted as required)
  • ● Concreting of pathways
  • ● Smoke detectors
 

Transport

From grocery shopping, having a day out for activities or attending regular appointments, We are here to help you get there. We organise General and specialised transport to assist you to and from appointments or activities.

Consumables

We can help support you in ensuring you are able to purchase everyday items that you require. For example 

  • ● Continence pads 
  • ● Medical supplies
  • ● Aids for daily living (commode chairs, shower chairs)
  • ● Cleaning and paper products
 

Assistive Technology

Ranging from simple to complex needs, hope house strives to ensure you are provided with equipment best suited for you. Assistive technologies are devices or equipment that can help you do things that are normally limited due to your disability. It can also include products that help make tasks easier or safer. We’re here to help, we will organise an assessment with an approved assistive technology advisor, who will provide guidance of  what kind of aid you need, include it to your NDIS plan and pick the best product for you. We will also ensure you learn how to use it safely and effectively as well as have ongoing support along the way.

Improved Daily Living

Having the skills and capacity to be involved in the community is the foundation of independence. At Hope House we can help you understand your NDIS plan and how you can use it to improve your daily living.  “The NDIS can fund therapy and/or training to help improve your everyday life. If provided support meets reasonable and necessary criteria, you may be able to use Improved Daily Living category funding in various ways to increase your independence and develop skills that help you achieve your goals.”
